| Large Plasma Melt Furnace Chamber |
| Used in the Production of Titanium Ingots |
Operating at a furnace pressure within a factor of five of atmospheric pressure, temperatures within the arc column are typically in the range of 4,000-20,000° K.
Almost all metal-melting operations use a non-reactive gas such as argon or helium flowing through the plasma torch. Retech has developed torch and furnace systems ranging in size from single 30-75 KW torches to production metal furnaces with up to five torches totaling 3500 KW. Three axis torch manipulation can be achieved using either hydraulic or electrically actuated manipulator systems.
Feed and withdrawal chambers are isolatable from the melt chamber, allowing almost perfect protection from metal contamination. This will have positive effects on a company's bottom line.
Our state-of-the-art equipment and plasma research programs aid development of new and complex alloy materials. To date, we have melted more than 200 specialty alloys in our facility. Retech's Specialty Alloys program is emblematic of our commitment to remain the world's foremost producer of plasma melting equipment.
