Join the Retech team in Ukiah, beautiful Mendocino County. Retech is searching for the ideal candidate to join our organization as a Controls Group Supervisor. Retech is the most fully integrated manufacturer of metallurgical processing equipment in the world.

Position Summary:
Plan, design, program and install industrial control systems in a collaborative environment through interpretation of project requirements, customer’s expectations, customer meetings, internal stakeholders input and analysis of system mechanical design. Control systems are typically PLC / HMI based.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Generate structured, well documented, and bug free PLC and HMI code meeting project objectives and when appropriate either draw from or contribute to a common code library.
  • Create professional, intuitive, easy to use, and visually pleasing HMI interfaces.
  • Systematically and thoroughly test PLC and HMI code prior to machine commissioning to ensure smooth and efficient use of resources during startup and commissioning.
  • Implement industrial communications networks in support of equipment operation.
  • Specify industrial control equipment including motors, drives, motor control centers, PLC components, PLC and HMI software, industrial computers, motion control systems, relays, power supplies, sensors, and meters.
  • Work collaboratively with the Electrical Design team to transform design concepts and project requirements into a working set of electrical schematics. This may include sketching designs, specifying components, checking drawings and directing the work of junior designers.
  • Work collaboratively with the Electronics Shop to resolve issues that arise during manufacturing.
  • Work collaboratively with Customer Service to resolve customer’s issues and concerns relating to existing equipment.
  • Direct and perform equipment commissioning, startup and testing activities both at the factory and at the end user’s installation site. Equipment commissioning ensures conformance to project specifications and requires familiarity with all aspects of machine performance including mechanical, electrical and process performance characteristics.
  • Generate test procedures, equipment and software design specifications, field reports, and operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Assist in managing project scope, customer expectations and project goals including technical execution, feature management, cost estimates, projects plans and status updates.
  • Maintain current knowledge of skills required to perform duties effectively and efficiently. Maintain current knowledge of available technologies and techniques for control system design.
  • Travel internationally to industrial sites to support installation activities for up to six weeks at a time, often with little advanced notice (Approx. total travel requirements is 20-50%).

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three years in a similar role is required.


Desired Skills:

  • Expert PLC programming skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Allen Bradley Controllogix® Processors.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Wonderware Intouch, or similar HMI application.
  • A successful candidate will necessarily possess project management and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to assume a leadership role during equipment commissioning, and to present confidence and professionalism at all times to internal and external customers.
  • Able to provide and receive support in a team environment.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex systems, applications, and processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining internal procedures for Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience developing collaboratively a common code library for team re-use.
