Career Posting – Master Planner / Project Scheduler

Position Summary:
Will develop and maintain a master project schedules and support Project Managers with individual project scheduling as needed. Ensuring Retech procedures and best practices are applied, as appropriate, and recommending changes to the Project Managers where required.

The Planner and Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining the project master schedule to meet multiple project objectives, and clearly identifying potential bottlenecks. The Planner and Scheduler must have experience in dealing in close cooperation with engineering and procurement.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Compile and develop baseline schedules that include resource loading, project phasing, project milestones, and represent critical relationships between project tasks as required to plan, coordinate, and visualize all significant project activities.
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to understand resource availability and any potential impact to current schedules.
  • Keep the sales and marketing team updated on how new proposal opportunities might fit into the schedule and help establish commitment dates on this new work.
  • Understand the loading of our key suppliers, and make sure they can satisfy our schedule needs on specific projects and proposals.
  • Be a key interface with manufacturing in regard to our schedule, assembly, and testing needs. Helping to identify potential issues with shop loading.
  • Drive the tear down and shipping efforts on projects upon completion of any testing in the shop.
  • Work with Project Managers to provide schedule and resource status on a monthly basis.
  • Incorporate and document changes to the schedule throughout the life-cycle of the project.
  • Help prepare estimates and schedules, as requested by Contract Managers for evaluating the cost and overall impact of scope changes to contract.
  • Make schedule forecasts to foresee resource problem areas on the schedule and notify management when these situations arise especially when they affect the critical path. This will allow priorities to be established based on overall company objectives.
  • Report Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) as required to the Project Manager.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.
  • Five (5+) or more years related experience in a manufacturing environment.

 

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of MS office suite, Project Management software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Must have excellent analytical, writing and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact successfully with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Experience with financial analysis is desired.
  • Scheduling experience under an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and or experience with Schedule Analysis tool is a plus.
