For over 40 years, Retech has recognized not only the need for advanced thermal processing equipment, but also the need for some companies to have a reliable and experienced source for developing and producing advanced alloys and super-alloys, or other specialized metallurgic materials. Retech serves many customers in this capacity annually and invites companies from all industries to participate in the advancement of their own technologies by utilizing our expertise and on-site melting facility.
Retech does not compete with its customers. The companies that come to us either have purchased Retech furnaces that may be currently at capacity, have a singular or infrequent need and no on-going reason to buy a furnace, or do not wish to contaminate their existing furnace that may already be used for an extremely clean procedure. Some companies do not have a budget to purchase a furnace for themselves and require further material development using thermal processes for success in their unrelated industry and occasionally we melt for a student, entrepreneur or University with the dream of creating a new product or material. In any of these cases, Retech is here to assist in the process of discovery for new or infrequent customers.
Retech can produce alloys using refractory and reactive metals, as well as new variations on super-alloys . Customers using specialty alloys need to adhere closely to specification regarding mechanical and chemical properties meant to enhance the overall performance of these special metals.
Using state-of-the-art processes utilizing plasma, cold wall, tilt-pour casting, induction, resistance heat, E-beam and others allow for high purity melting and material processing. Retech has produced everything from high purity single-element metals to multi-element alloys containing up to a dozen different elements.
In conjunction with some of the world's largest companies, Retech has been able to introduce materials that have superior mechanical and chemical properties. Because of the high temperatures needed within controlled atmospheres and consistent quality requirements, our experience and expertise in this field enables our customers to work special properties into existing materials or create new materials that make them leaders in their own industries. We have melted and produced more than 200 complex alloys at our facilities for the world's largest and leading manufacturers of special products.
Types of materials we can produce include memory shape metals such as Nitinol and Aluminides (Titanium and Aluminum intermetallics) utilized in engine valves and medical devices and other alloys with outstanding mechanical strength and corrosion resistance used for such commercial items as heads for golf clubs. Just a few alloy combinations we have produced include NB50-Ti30-W20, Nb-Ti-Al-Cr-Mo-Hf and Cu-Nb.
